How many lessons do I need to learn to kitesurf safely?

For a good foundation, we recommend scheduling 3-4 lessons. You are not obliged to buy a package in advance and always pay for the lesson afterwards.

Advantage of booking individual lessons?

We go for quality! Because you can schedule each lesson separately, you are never bound to compulsory hours. If lessons are cancelled due to circumstances, there are no costs involved. If you are ready to take the next step, we are flexible to adjust this immediately. Free online choice to book on days and times that suit your holiday! 

When are there kitesurfing lessons?

Every day with wind at any level from April to October.

Do I get a certificate?

After finishing your lessons, you get a free internationally recognised VDWS certificate with your level.

What is included in the kitesurf lessons?

Kitesurfboard, kite and wetsuit are included in the price. 

Which languages do the kitesurf instructors speak?

Besides our Dutch instructors, we also have four German instructors. The languages we teach in are Dutch, German and English.

Kitesurf lessons: what should I bring?

  • Sturdy shoes / sneakers
  • Waterproof sunscreen
  • Towel
  • With a rainy weather forecast, a raincoat

From which age can children learn how to kitesurf?

We also offer kitesurf lessons for children. Weight is more important than age. Children weighing more than35 kilograms are welcome for lessons. Vrouwenpolder actually has the best kitesurf conditions for children: at high tide children can stand in the lagoon with shallow water.

Which months of the year do we give kitesurf lessons?

April until October! We try to start in April. Whether it is warm enough by then totally depends on the weather! In October we check how long the temperature is comfortable. You can book anyhow. If lessons cannot take place because of the temperature or poor conditions, we will let you know.

How many people can be in a group lesson?

You and two other students will be in a group lesson. So there is a maximum of 2  persons with one kitesurf instructor. Would you like to take a group lesson with your friends or family? This is possible, if your weights are not too far apart. Please let us know in your application, so we can take care of this ☺

On which locations in Zeeland do we give kitesurf lessons?

We give kitesurf lessons on our kitesurf spot Vrouwenpolder, our home base, during west wind, north-west, north, north-east and eastern wind. We take the Vertigo bus to Neeltje Jans when the wind direction is south-west. We regularly get the question: ”Do you also give kitesurf lessons on the Veerse Meer (lake)?”. Unfortunately kitesurfing is not allowed on the Veerse Meer.  

What if there is no wind?

The day before the scheduled kitesurf lesson we have contact. You receive a message with a ‘GO’ when the weather forecast is favourable. When the weather forecast is not good, you receive a message saying ‘NO-GO’. You can then pick a new date by means of our planning system (Spring 2017).

How many lessons do I need to be able to kitesurf on my own?

The number of lessons you need depends on the talent you show for kitesurfing and previous experience you have in either board sports or kiting. To go out safely onto the water on your own, the average student needs 4 lessons of 3 hours. Of course you are welcome to practise further on your own, with us you are never bound to a lesson package.

What can my children/family/friends do during my kitesurf lesson?

Playground at the beach
There is a big playground at the beach right in front of Vertigo Sports, containing, for instance, a lighthouse with a slide, swings and water feast.

Shopping At the beach there is our Vertigo Sports store with clothes by brands like Roxy, Brunotti, Quiksilver and Mystic. We have bikinis, shirts, sweaters and wind jackets.

Relaxing At the sun terrace of restaurant De Dam you can sit and enjoy lunch or drinks. The sun roof is a recommendation on a sunny day. Poor weather? Inside The Dam there is a fireplace you can sit by, with a hot coco for instance.

I have had lessons at another kitesurf school before, can I take further lessons with you?

Yes you can! When you sign up with us, let us know at what level you are and we can work with that information. Even when you didn’t take all your lessons with us, it is always possible to get your kitesurf certificate with us.

Where can I spend the night within walking distance of the kitesurf spot?

Breezand Beach houses. At the beach in Vrouwenpolder there are several overnight beach houses within 50 meters of our kitesurf school (worth checking out!).

Holiday resort Breezand. Behind the dunes you find holiday resort Breezand. It is possible to rent a bungalow there, within walking distance of the kitesurf beach.

Camping De Zandput. This camping is right next to holiday resort Breezand and also within walking distance of kitesurf spot Vrouwenpolder, the beach and the sand dunes.

Can I take a shower after the kitesurf lessons?

Yes, you can! We have four hot showers for our students which you can use for free.

How can I pay?

Payments can be made in cash or with a regular bank card. Unfortunately payments by credit card are not yet possible.
